Rodin is the father of modern sculpture, and the Musée Rodin is surrounded by sculptures of all sizes. The world famous 'Thinker" sits in the middle of the garden and is always surrounded by a crowd wanting take a picture. On the opposite side of the garden, you can find the "Gates of Hell" which portrays individuals in pain suffering about the enter the gates of hell. If you study it closely you can really see the detail in the facial expression of the people in agony and they almost look like they are coming out of the sculpture. It is incredible the emotion this sculpture brings to me. Many of Rodin's work relates to death and passion.
"The Kiss" is one of my favorite sculptures by Rodin. The emphasis that he gives to his sculptures create movement even though they are made of stone. In this piece, you can see the force on the man's abdominal area as he hold her. Also, you can see her grip around him which is very subtle yet passionate.
"The Hand of God" was another piece that caught my attention. It is as if he was trying to say that we are just creations of a higher power (whatever it is that we believe in) and we have been "modeled" a certain way by our creator. Two figures seem to emerge from the block of marble that is in the hand of the creator, they are believed to be Adam and Eve.
On the outside of the museum, you can find a beautiful garden with singing trees. At first I did not know where the singing was coming from then I heard it coming from the trees. It gives the setting some type of mysterious/interesting touch.
It is definitely a museum I would like to go and visit again.
